This is the factory cigarette lighter socket.

The new socket was a bit too short and lacked the threaded end for the retainer. I carefully cut off the threaded end and tacked it onto the new socket with my MIG welder.

I cut the hole with a 1-5/8" hole saw being careful to keep the speed low as the ABS easily melts from the friction of the saw.

This pic shows the plastic socket that I cut out of the old dash and glued below the map light.

It should look stock, once the woodgrain is added tot he dash.

I grafted the LH side of the ashtray slide further to the left to make a pocket large enough to fit an iphone.

This is the back side; I filled in the gaps with the ABS sheet material purchased on eBay.

The top frame is not aligning with the quarter glass - see the red lines. The angles are not the same.

The top header will no reach to the windshield header.

This fully extended (the motor is whining at this point). It seems to me the top frame should extend further as it doesn't reach the back edge of the warter glass.

Does the metal need to be higher? See red arrows.

It's not really clear how this piece with the weatherstriping mounts to the A-pillar.

There is a mounting hole in the rubber and a slot in the metal trim; maybe the rubber needs to slide down in the metal trim to be inside the slot??

The rubber and metal seem to fit well at the bottom.

There are screw holes in the A-pillar and holes in the trim - see the red arrows, but they do not line up in any way that makes sense.

I was planning to use the 3M 80 adhesive, but learned about the DAP product from a Chevelle forum.

I put blue painters tape along the bottom side of the windshield to keep the contact cement off this area. I carefully cut slits in the vinyl at the mounting studs.

The interior A-pillar trims look a bit bent at the bottom. I may need to bend these down a bit, but I'll wait until the dash is installed to get a better perspective.
