245/60/14 Will they fit & how will they look?
My 72 442 has a set of 225/70/14's on it presently. I want to put 60's on the car so I'm looking at BF Goodrich 245/60/14's.
Does anyone have these tires on their car now & can share some info like will they rub the fender wells when turning, Rear wheel wells, any problems with them at all?
I don't want to change wheels which are Factory SS II's & I don't want to put 15's on the car.
Thanks for any help.

keep in mind those tires will be about 2.5" shorter than stock diameter ( I have the same tires on my '72) so your speedo will be out. Right now the tires you have are a bit shorter than stock already as I believe the modern tire size equivalent should be 215/75R14.

As others have pointed out, the 245/60-14s are significantly smaller in diameter than the original tires. Your call on whether you like the look or not. Personally I don't care for a lot of "daylight" between the tire and the wheel opening. 225/70-14 is about as close as you can come today. 235/60-15s are similar but require 15" wheels.

He was actually talking about the second number. The way a tire size breaks down is like this:
245 = section width in mm, NOT tread width.
60 = aspect ratio. What that means is the tire is 60% as tall as it is wide.
14 = rim diameter.
I hope this helps.

Unfortunately, 245/60-14 is about the widest 14" tire that's commonly available today, but are very small in diameter as compared to the original tires on A-body cars. 14" tires are hard to find in general anymore unless you pay big bucks to a company like Coker for repros.
As an example:
245/60-14s are only 25.5" in diameter.
225/70-14s are 26.5"
225/75-14s are 27.3"
235/70-14s are 27" but are very difficult to find.

- I have 245 60 14’s on my 70 El Camino they fit good in the wheel wells and look great but ya they are pricey now. In the late 80’s were about $95
