Where can u find p235-70R14

My 1970 originally came with G-70s. After looking up several charts I determined that that a P235-70R14 is the closest in diameter to that original tire. I have SSII wheels that are 14". My problem is that I cannot find a P235 in 14". Are they made anymore? Coker doesn't carry them. Anyone know of a retailer ??

Well, the original G-70 was 26.8 inches in diameter and the P235's are exactly 27 inches. I didn't think 0.2 inches was going to be a problem. Do u think so???

I am not sure if that size is available anymore. You can find the 225 70 14 available at www.tirerack.com in either BF Goodrich or Firestone Firehawks. Hope that helps.

235/70/14 pretty much don't exist. Cooper among others makes a 235/60/14.

This thread is a little stale (April 2010), but for completeness Coker sells 235/70-14 tires with a 1" whitewall for a mere $228 apiece. 236/60-14s are quite a bit shorter than the 70s.

I eventually purchased Firestone Indy 500s 225/70/14 for $74 each. Funny thing is that I recently visited Thornton Restorations (a very well known 442 specialist). He told be the tires are fine, but "of course they are wider then the original G-70s". So, while I like the wider tire the fact that they are radials and wider makes them "unauthentic in appearance" LOL.

BTW - one of the individuals there rolls on G-70 bias plys.....he compared them to skates as compared to today's radials. He told me that he couldn't believe in 1970 he was going 100 mph plus on that type tire.
