15X7 SS III and 14X7 SS III

Hi all - I am running a set of 4 15X7 SS III’s on my 72 vert - I have no spare tire. I found a 14X7 SS III for free - is it possible to throw a tire on the 14 that would work with the 15’s for spare tire emergency purposes? Thanks in advance for your help - Joe R.

another matching 15 inch wheel and tire would be better
14 inch tires are crazy expensive and would that be close to the tire height you have now???

I haven’t looked for tires yet - didn’t know if it would even work. Just trying to find something that will hold air - figure it would beat a tow truck *shrug*

So you are getting a tire and rim???
That beats the hell out of nothing

IF you use different height / tall tires the car will lean and if in the rear may cause posi to bind

tires toast - just the rim - what I was trying to ask is - can I buy a tire for the 14 - that would work with the 15s and tires I have on it in an emergency as a spare - I understand that If I run a tractor tire and a caster on either side of my posi or front end I will either tear up my posi or easily make lefts - Hehe - just didn’t know if I could buy some crap tire for the 14 that would match the size of existing 15 set up - that make sense?

I have the same scenario except I do have a spare wheel & tire. My spare is 14x7. I'm completely fine w/ it. If I'm w/in let's say 5-10 miles of an Interstate Exit ramp, or the same distance to the closest service station/tire shop that 14x7 will do the job just fine. I would never run in that condition for ANY extended distance; but, to get to the closest shop it should work fine. Additionally, since I have tubeless radials, I carry a tubeless repair kit. So, as long as there's no sidewall puncture (more like a screw, nail, piece of metal in the tire tread itself) all I'd need would be some compressed air. JS

What is your tire size? All that matters is that the spare have the same OD as the other tires, but if you have tall 15" tires you may not be able to find a 14" tire that is tall enough. Unless you care about having a SuperStock wheel on the spare, 15" steel wheels are easy to find.

The internet says 235-60-15 tires are 26.1" tall.
The internet also says 205-75-14 tires are 26.1" tall.

Gotcha
As long as the height of the tire is close to same as your 15's it should be "fine"
Be careful if you mix bias ply and radial tires you could have some problems
