Worth Changing 62 Skylark from 4 lug to 5 Lug up front? Not an Olds but a Y body
I have a 62 Skylark that will be a street/strip car. I plan to replace the Aluminum 215 with a 350. I plan to put disk brakes on it either way. The way I see it 5 lug has more wheel options, I assume bigger brakes. Disadvantage money, hassle.
Options please.

Unless your 350 is aluminum, you will be doubling the weight of the engine. The five lug wheels have a higher load rating. I kept four lug on my 62, but I'm also keeping the aluminum V8 (well, a Rover-based 5.0 version...). The 4 x 4.5 bolt pattern was used on Falcon, Mustang, Comet, and Maverick six cylinder cars through the early 1970s, so wheels are out there.

Thanks Joe.
Not sure what I'm going to do with respect to wheels. A guy on another forum may have done the swap so hopefully he has part numbers and such. The 350 will have Aluminum heads, intake, battery to trunk. removed AC parts and converting to manual steering box.
