Weld prostar wheel sizes and backspaces for 1967 Cutlass?
Working on buying the right wheel and tire combo for the 1967 cutlass with 2" lowering springs. This car is going to be a street cruiser/ strip runner (we live 2 miles from Bandimere Drag Strip in Denver/Morrison, Colorado).
We just lucked out and scored a brand new set of 2 Weld ProStars in 15 x 8 with 4.5BS for a great deal.
I would like to use these on the front, with some 245/60R15 tires unless someone can tell me a reason why this combo wouldn't work well, as I am all ears.
We want to buy some 15 x 10 Weld ProStars for the rear so we can run some Nitto Drag radials in 325/50/15 or Mickey Thompson Drag radials in 28 x 12.50 x 15 (295/55/15). I want it to hook as good as possible on the strip, and not just spin if we get on it to pass someone or merge onto the highways.
Our 12 Bolt Chevy rearend has been narrowed roughly 1 inch on each side compared to stock, so I am trying to figure out if we would be safe with 4.5 inch BS on the rear wheels or if we need 3.5 inches of backspace (so it would be like a stock axle running 4.5 inches of backspace).
Thanks!

On my 66 I am running about zero offset on the front, and about 3/4" to 7/8" positive offset (to the outside) in the rear with 66 Chevelle width differential. That translates to 4.5" BS in the front with 8" wheels and 4.8" BS in the rear with 10" wheels. I use narrow tires in the front, and wide ones would probably hit the inner fender mounting bolts. In the rear you will be restricted in width by the frame; I run 30x9 Hoosier slicks.
