Exclamation Updated w/ PICS! - 15x10 SSII's?

Hello,

I've finally come to a decision on the wheels I want on my 1972 Cutlass, while also trying to keep the vehicle as "original" to it's era as possible.

I have restored the stock 14x7 SSII's, and re-painted them the original color (as well as the car). The car is lowered 2 inches, but I have the same UMI springs in a 1 inch lowered version (FYI). I desperately need a wider/beefier stance in the rear. I plan on keeping the front lowered 2 inches, but can and will raise the rear 1 inch (overall drop of 1 inch) id need be.

Basically I want the same SSII design wheels in a 15 inch version, which I know is easily doable. But I really want a 10 inch wider version of the wheel. I understand 15x8's would be way easier to find, but from what I researched it seems some aftermarket wheel companies make or used to make a 15x10in SSII wheel?

I'm praying I can make this happen, as I am set in this decision.

I'm asking if anyone knows who sells these wheels and/or if anyone is selling used versions of said wheel? I'd REALLY appreciate any feedback!

Thank you all so much.

Yes that can be done, even using 14” centers

Wow, are those welds done by hand, or a machine. If they are by hand, that person is a welding wizard!

I would love the 15 inch centers! Is anyone on this forum a wheel vendor that can make this happen?

Stockton Wheel in California does wheel widening, and someone posted about a place in Colorado that does it as well but I don't recall the name of the company.

As stated above, the centers for the 14" and 15" wheels are the same, so you can use your 14" centers to make 15" wheels in whatever width.

I had called Stockton several years back when I did my wheels. They did not have 10" blanks, only 8". They were going to have me buy four 8" blanks and split/reseam them to create 10"... I translated this to spending more on blanks, more on labor, more joints and points of failure... Maybe if you call them now they will have 10" hoops in stock.. My first set of SSIIIs were fabricated by Stockton back in the eighties.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I want to keep the 4 OEM wheels alone, so I was planning to buy new wheels (either already 15x10) or for cores to be welded.

Thus, I did not want to purchase some stock 14 SSIIs if I could somehow find some 15x10s already completed.

I know Mcwheels has made them in the past and sometimes has them in stock. As with any purchase, do your due diligence.

Well I hope that isn't the case. He's been very communicative to me, and replies to every message I have sent him so far, and he is already starting the work on the wheels. Fingers crossed!

those look really nice.

I wish they made a deep dish trim ring like 5" deep i think that would look good too.

What size tire are those? They look sweet and meaty! Can't wait to see them on your car.
I see that Wheel Vintiques makes an all chrome 15x10 SS1 rim. I bet that looks sweet too.
+1 on a deeper trim ring. Wheel Vintques carries a 15x8 trim ring that might fill that gap better.

295s. I like the gap personally in person - it would be too much chrome lip otherwise in my opinion. Photos to come soon!

Anybody know what those trim rings correct for? I bought the same ones and they said the were correct for olds SSII SSIII wheels. When I received them I noticed they are significantly different then my originals.

A few dirty cell phone photos the day after I picked her up. I love how it turned out and the new stance and rear-end:

Thank you, I love how it turned out and the wheels look like they came from 1972!

The front is lowered 2 inches, and the rear 1 inch.

They came from the vendor that sold the rear end unit. Was a great overall package from QP!
