Widest Tire under a 1969 442?
I'm looking to update grade from my 14" SSI wheels. I'm curious what the largest tire I can fit under the rear and in front. I plan to measure for order before I order wheels but I'd like to have a place to start and old like to use a tire when I mock things up

my 2 cents
On what size rim?
Assuming 15" you can easily fit 255 60 15s on 15 x 7" rims with 4" or a 15 x8" with 4.5" BS. Personally I have owned three 1969 442s & feel that 255 60 15s out back is a great set up. I attached some pics.
If you go to a 15x8" rim with 4.5" BS you can fit a 275 60 15. However you may experience some rubbing if you have any weight in the rear. You may have to raise with air bags. When I tried I thought it was all good until I cut a tire turning into a service station.
Don't pick a tire width & height without considering how you use the car, your rear end gears, you suspension & how much power you have to turn big tires.

Thanks for the help. Nice car btw.
I'm upgrading out of necessity- I'm switching form drum to disk brakes on the car and the wheels I have won't clear the calipers. I figure while I'm at it I might as go with something wider too.
