New rims

I just got new 15" SS1 rims and mounted 255-60 15s on them... they are going to rub like hell if I try driving it with them on the front.
So I got 245-60 15s for the front. I forgot to take a pic with the smaller front tires.

I had 255/60/15's all the way around on a 1970 Cutlass with no rubbing issues. What are they hitting on?

I've got 255/60-15s on the factory wheels at all four corners of my 69 H/O, with only minor rubbing if you hit a bump with the wheels turned all the way. What's the offset on your SSIs?

Maybe try new shocks and springs for a big block for the 69.

They have a 4.5" offset, there was only 1/2" between the tire and fender/wheel well.
I want to put heavier springs in it anyway to keep the headers from hitting on good bumps.

Offset is the dimension that the wheel mounting surface is offset from the centerline of the wheel. Typically it is zero for RWD GM cars. I suspect you mean 4.5" of BACKSPACING. Unfortunately, without knowing the width of the wheel, backspacing alone doesn't provide enough info.

Well, that's just about zero offset. Mine were 7" wide. Are you sure the camber is adjusted properly? With those spacers you have, the upper ball joints might be too far outboard, causing clearance issues.

I'm going to take it for an alignment, it looks like negative camber with the top of the tire tipped in, I think I'm going to get some new springs first.

The 8" wide wheel is part of the issue. Mine were in stock 7" wide wheels with no rubbing issues.
