F-85 Specialty wheel?

Here is a picture of what was the spare tire of my car. The old trunk lid had the instructions for stowing this tire and rim. It said it was an F85 Specialty wheel. As you can see my 442 had Keystone classics on it when I bought it. The build sheet was destroyed by a vengeful ex during divorce, so I don't know what options it was ordered with. It's not an SSI or SSII rim.

Thanks,
Ben

Anyone have a line on seventies vintage Keystone Classics?

Thanks,

Ben

It did not come with your car as it is not an Olds or even a GM piece, it is purely aftermarket.

The wheel shown is a Keystone Kustomag
In the late '60s, Keystone was sold & the wheel became Keystone Kustomag Klassic.
In the early '70s the company was sold again, the wheel was redesigned & became the "modern" Keystone Klassic.

The earlier wheels, like yours, the spokes are not connected at the rim - the redesigned '70s wheels, the spokes are connected at the rim.

That does appear to have an original Tiger Paw G70-14, can you share the DOT info from the tire & the body build date from your car's cowl tag?

They do show up on eBay from time to time.

I have a set of 5 Keystone's...
They need to be restored but have zero curb rash etc...
Staggered...
15 7 in the front... (three rims)
15 10 in the rear...

I am considering restoring them but tossing a few options etc...

Here is a pic...

Ben, the label you refer to is for SSI or SSII wheels. Stowage is different for them, so they get a different label. This info is in the Assembly Manual. Doesn't jump out at you, but it is there.
so the label means the car came with one of those 2 wheels.

And you do know that the Assembly Manual is available free of charge at Wild About Cars?

The Specialty Wheel Stowage decals are reproduced by a number of vendors. Dr. Decal (Marc Cornea) has an excellent quality one. Note also there's a special nut and j hook for the specialty wheel. The J hook is slightly shorter than a conventional one.

I've also found that some (not all) of the reproduction stickers come in different sizes that don't always match the originals. Kurt gave you an excellent link to also see where the decals need to be placed on the inside of the deck lid to be 'correct'. Just a note: SSI is a completely different looking wheel than SSII, but SSII and SSIII were basically only differentiated by colors. SSII was always a pewter (gray) color, while SSIII was the same wheel just color matched to the lower body color.

I did a quick look on the rim but part of it is pretty corroded and I'll need to clean it. Thanks for the information on the rim. As I said it was in the trunk when I bought the car.

That answers some questions. It appears that I had one of the old style rims as a spare. The later model is on the car. The rear rims were wider than the front. I had G70 14 on the front and J60 14 on the back. Look closely at the picture of me and my car. The rims are the later model.

Now I really wish I had the build sheet to see what rims came on the car.

Is the car in the pictures yours?

I'll take a picture of the remaining rims I pulled off the car and post them.

Ben

Ben, you said you had the build sheet, but I really question that. Are you sure you don't mean the "Broadcast Card" and not the "Build sheet"? Attached are both. Virtually none of the Lansing cars had build sheets.
If you had a Broadcast Card, it wouldn't tell you what wheel you had anyway. If you have an original Specialty Wheel sticker and the 2 clips for the tire iron, then you definitional had SSI or SSII wheels. Just don't know which.
