Could this be the original spare?
This was in the trunk of my '68 Cutlass. Think it could be the original spare?

I would say to check the date code... BUT, prior to 1971 there was no mandated date codes.. A standardized 10-digit Tire Identification Number (often called a DOT number) was mandated by the United States Department of Transportation in 1971. Some manufacturers used date codes prior to 1971, but there wasn’t a standardized system, so each brand handled numbering differently...

tire
T = 1968
S = April
03 = Jackson, MS Goodyear plant
wheel
K2/8 = Kelsey Hayes plant #2 / 1968
6 = June
?? = there should be other numbers to the right of the valve stem = day of month
?? = there might be a 2-digit application code right of the day stampings
what plant & what month/week was your car built?

There is a "12" and "A" to the right of the valve stem stamped in the wheel.
