70' Vista Cruiser

Hey Guys and Gals! My lady got me a 1970 Vista Cruiser as my new hobby! I'm in way over my head but I'm ready to learn what I need to know and I'm excited as heck to get started, although it'll be a bit because I have to save up for parts and what not! LOL

Just starting I know I need a windshield and the roof glass will need to be resealed. The frame and floors are solid, surface rust only, the only place under the car that has had bad cancer is the wheel well for the spare tire. The vinyl head liner is shot and the interior has a very moldy smell. Tailgate works both ways and it runs and drives and stops like a champ!

I live in the Hudson Valley of New York and any leads on parts or help is appreciated!

It's going to take a long time but I'm happy! I will post pictures as I go. The two attached are where I'm starting from, I'll post more after the weekend.

Question '70? Vista

Unless someone changed the front cap, that's not a '70. Might want to double check your title/vin.

Congratulations on your Lady buying you a new toy! And what a toy. Main thing is DON'T get in too big a hurry, and enjoy the ride getting there. Spare tire cancer is common, as are the 1/4 panel areas for replacement. Better become close friends with a body man, or sign up at your local community college for a body shop course, and DIY. Ain't gonna' be easy, ain't gonna' be fast.............but WILL be extremely rewarding. You can do it. Oh, by the way, welcome to CO from another LongTop owner!

Yup, not sure how it got like that, the previous owner had 3 of them, so your guess is as good as mine

More pictures

Ok here are a ton more pictures. The good news is I warmed it up and drive around the block. Suspension is totally trashed but it runs shifts and stops like an absolute champ! I already love this car!!

Great to see somebody finally bought this car! You should look for a left fender. Get a '71/2 to match the right, and sell the left '70 fender to help fund the build. Someone here could probably use it.

My bigger concern is the glass and finding parts. It's a 1970 with all sorts of parts on it. Lol I also need shop space.

Lol! I read that one the other night! I'm in it for the long haul for sure! Just have to get my funds figured out and pick a direction.
