52 Pont sun visor on a 53 88?
#3
Talking with the guy some more and looking at pictures, the visor is set up to mount to the center split in the windshield - which the Pontiac had, and the Olds doesn't. Now I'm wondering if the center mount is necessary - can it simply be removed? The rivets ground down, take the center mount off, and just mount it from the sides?
It doesn't seem as if it would be terribly sturdy. I found a site that custom makes visors (agapeautoparts.com/products/products.html), and he mentions a roof bracket for cars that don't have a split windshield. Of course, the simpler route would be just getting the visor direct from the site - it's only a hair more expensive...

It most definitely needs a center mount. I had a factory NOS sun visor on a '53 Ninety Eight back in the '80s. Every time a truck passed me in the opposite direction on a two lane blacktop, I would cringe at how much the visor moved. It had a beefy cast center bracket screwed to the front edge of the roof.
