How did the hood close with both Century springs installed? I realize that hood height is a little lower but that does not bother me much. More concerned with hood staying up and not binding. Appreciate all the foot work you did.

I was more focused on the opening height, which was much lower with the Century springs in place. They are about 1.75" longer than OEM and needed to extend quite a bit before generating enough force to hold the hood. The spring rate is higher than OEM so I imagine they will hold the hood closed just fine.

I have a used set on there now ( better than the old ones) but they aren't anything to brag about. I still use a prop when working on the car but show the car without it,.... Tedd

Just ran across this thread, is there any help I can offer. Have one 56 88 that the hood works well on and I have a 56 98 that the passenger side doesn't like to close without pushing down on rear of pass side of hood.

I ended up biting the bullet and purchasing a rebuilt set of hinges on Ebay and they now work like a champ. Arm rivets were a little loose so rebuilt hinges was the answer for me.
