treadle vac removal- how to

Greetings everyone: I have a 1954 Olds Super 88 with the Treadle Vac power brake unit. I have to take the unit out of the car; I have to work under the car without a lift. It is a very tight fit as this unit is directly below the steering column and just above the frame. My question is, the plate thatthe Treadle Vac unit is mounted to on the floor board appears to be held on by 10 or so metal screws. Again, it appears that this plate comes off toward the inside of the car and would bring the treadle vac unit with it, if the hoses are removed first....itself an obvious nightmare. Anyone with any experience on this, I would really appreciate as much of your advice/experience as you have time to give. Thanks in advance, Gawain

Disconnect the lines and vacuum hose underneath. Then remove the pedal, pull the carpet back and remove the plate the treadlevac is attached to, remove the 10 or so bolts and pull it out from inside the car. You are on the right track.
