How wide were the rims on the stock 56 olds , wonder if you could put 7 inch wide with no clearance problems does anyone know?

Thanks Sid

I have a set of chrome reversed wheels I used for a while on my 55. They were 8 inch in the back and 7 in the front. I ran a 235/60r/15 in the back and215/65r/15 in the front. The backs would rub if switched to the front and were very close on the rears but did not rub. I carried a 215/65r/15 as a spare.

Keep in mind that you can't rotate your tires and with skirts on the over sized tires the extra width doesn't show up much. I later wen't with 760/15 WW bias ply which looked great but followed every grove in the road and were tiresome on long trips. I now run 225/70r/15 with 3" wide whits and have no problems.

About the largest stock bias ply tire I have see on a stock rim is a 845/15.... Tedd
