Just got an '55 88 for$500 All there except for the carb 4bbl manifold. Found another roch 4bbl at salvage yard ,No # tag not sure if it will work or not. Looks the same basically as pics I've seen of the correct one. If not anyone where to get a core or rebuilt for it #7007000?

is it in the dash like all the old cars or was it upgraded and in the colum.I ask as if it is in the dash many times there is a ring that has to be unsrewed and then unplug it and then you have the igition switch in your hand. Now colums are trickier i have a colum that I have to take to a locks smith as I got it with no key and havn't been able to get the ignition switch out.

Its in the dash and not hard to get out. First thing to do is buy yourself an Oldsmobile shop manual for your car. This helps alot when you are working on it. You can find them on e-bay most of the time. Good luck

It does not unplug. Each of the 4-5 wires on the switch are individually connected with a terminal lug. These babies were built back in those days. Just be sure you get all the terminals back on correctly and be sure and disconnect the battery before you start removing the switch.

lost key
The easy way is to take the glove box door off and take it to a lock shop. They can make a key by hand without removing it from the door. This is the same key as the one in the dash . Been there done that.......Tedd
