83Hurst#1812

Just purchased a 83 Hurst/olds...THM200-4R tranny ...Car has sat for for many years before i got it....It does run good and drives.

Book calls for Dextron II....Not avail anymore ...Many diff tranny fluids out there now..

Want to drop the pan ,,change gasket and filter and refill a few times...What tranny fluid are you guys using these days ??

Dex III, that's basically what it was designed to run on. Some folks like to flush them through & run Dex VI which is a "better" fluid but designed for different friction technology.

Lots of miles? Fluid nice n red?
Careful swapping fluid on a real high mile car. It never seems to work out for me.

use atf its like thicker almost like putting b&m trick shift fluid in it I learned this when I went to automotive school in the 70s its what I use gives u harder shifts

Redline D4 is what I use in the same tranny. I have an additional cooler plumbed in series after the internal radiator cooler. Add a couple of additional magnets to the pan while you're in there.
