need help with part numbers
I'm going to replace the TCC solenoid, as well as the 4th gear pressure switch, in my TH200-4R ('85 Delta 88 w/ 307 and 2.73). The parts #'s I've found are 8634960 for the solenoid and 8683502 for the switch. Can anyone confirm? Other numbers I've found are 8639900 and 8639956 (for the solenoid). I just wanna be sure I buy the right one(s).
Thanks!
Thanks!

I remember you having a tranny issue so i guess the TCC was the problem.
Here is an excellent writeup by the Monte guys:

Your 85 tranny should be similar.
As for the part numbers, your local GM dealer should be able to get the correct one for you, based on year and application. I would opt to stick with a genuine GM part for this.
I still need to replace the one on my 86 Olds... The solenoid & fluid has been on the shelf for over 7 years now!
(Goes to show how often she sees daylight...)

Thanks for the info. Yes, I came across the Monte Carlo site myself, but note that he also mentions that his solenoid may be SS specific...which is why I bring all this up. I called 3 local dealers and none of them are very helpful...I'm going to keep trying though.
Oh, and nope, I haven't found out that the TCC is definitely the problem, but I figure it's worth a shot. The problems I've experienced seem to match up to what others say they've gone through (including the Monte Carlo guy who did the write-up) with their 4R's.

Been there, done that...
I found that calling them was no use. I finally just stopped in the local Chevy dealer and ordered it. If you are there, they have more inclination to help, or get someone who knows how to help...
Mine cost almost 70 bucks, who knows what they are now!
If the pan comes off to change the solenoid, might as well do thefilter and fluid, too. A good complete tranny service. Just hope there are no mounds of metal filings inside from pump failure, a common stock 200R4 issue.
Best of luck to ya!

Got a Buick dealer on the phone, and placed the order...should be in late this week, shipping included in the price. He says that his book indicates the same part # that Monte Carlo SS guy used works for my car too. I HOPE he's right....we'll find out. I went ahead and ordered a 4th gear pressure switch too...it was $12, so I figured I might as well. The solenoid, btw, was $76. That's higher than some online sources, but once I paid shipping (in their case), there isn't much of a difference.
Rob, you say you bought yours 7 years ago. Kind of a "just in case" thing I guess?

Nope. My 86 needs it! It was not unlocking. I just unplugged the connector as a temporary fix, going on almost permanent... Since she only gets 200 miles a year, it has not hit the priority list...Glad you got yours fixed!!
