Exclamation TH400 Vendors

Hi All!

My current/stock 72 Cutlass Supreme is a 350/TH350 car.

Mark (Cutlassefi) is building me a Olds 350 into a bored/stroked 434ci monster pushing closer to 600hp NA.

I want to match a TH400 for this build that can handle this power for many years- mostly street, but will see the strip, too.

What vendors are out there that build TH400 with these needs for Olds motors? I'd like to get references out there so I can start doing my research and place an order soon!

Much appreciated.

Update: I'm going to be reaching out to TCI but I think this is the one for me:

I have gone thru several TCI transmissions, both 350 and 400, they are nothing special. There is more to successful transmission life than the part going in, attention to detail is important also.

Im kinda picky about what kind of clutches I use in my builds. I don’t buy overhaul kits, I prefer to buy the clutches and steels in bulk, and gasket kits separately. How your using the transmission is a factor in what kind of clutches to use.

Properly built, a 400 will easily handle 800-900 hp, and with a few cheap upgrades they can handle 1500 with mostly factory parts.

Thank you.

What vendor/company would you recommend, then?

If your in the market for a trans and converter you can’t go wrong with Coan. They make custom converters. And can build a transmission tailored to your needs. Hughes is another good brand.

Thank you - I will be looking into them now, too!
