54 Hydra-Matic output seal

Does anybody know the seal part # that will fit the trans output for my 1954 98 with the Hydra-Matic? Rock Auto lists several numbers with varying specs, but I'm hoping to have the seal on hand before I get the car on stands and pull the driveshaft.

Unless it has a "special extended seal" the factory part number is 8618702 ;

Looking at the Rock Auto listing , the Timken number 7038SA crosses over to factory number 8618702 .

Rear tailshaft seals have been a pain in the butt for me. I had the hydra-matic in my 54 rebuilt about a year and a half ago. The guy that rebuilt it was an old time transmission guy and did a great job. It is a problem to find somebody that knows anything about these old transmissions. The problem came when we found out my 54 has a 55 transmission and engine. Good news on the engine since it has about 20 more horsepower but not on the transmission, GM changed to output on the 55 to use some kind of bushing and a different seal. Apparently the bushing is not available. We have replaced the seal once and it is leaking again like crazy. I have three different seals to try now. Within the next two weeks I am going to get the car up on jack stands and make another try at replacing the seal. Not that you wanted to hear all this story, I have an SKF seal #16871 that I ordered from somewhere that I believe is correct for a 54. Fusick has the seal in their catalog but it is about 3 time the price of RockAuto. Good luck on this.

Rockauto.com offers a seal and bushing kit that pulled up in the listing for my '54:

I have no idea if this would help at all, but I figured it was worth mentioning.

I won't be surprised if I find I need a different seal than I ordered, but I figure there's a decent chance (?) that it'll work. If not, it was only 4ish bucks, so not really a big deal.

The previously mentioned seal (7038SA) and this kit both have the same shaft diameter 1.5 in .
Is there any play (up & down , side to side) in the driveshaft yoke ?
If not , then the bushing would be unnecessary .
