Early hydra-matic

Would an early hydra-matic from a 47 olds bolt up to a 394. If so what mods need to be done. I have a 47 and was going to put in flat 6 friend of mine has a 394 with no trans or bell housing.
Thanks, Derek

If the 47 hydramatic looks anything like the 48-56 varieties, then you could possibly make it work. BUT, you will need a lot to do this.
You will need a 49-53 Olds hydramatic rear bell housing
You will need a 54-56 Olds hydramatic lower bell housing
You will need a 54-56 Olds hydramatic starter.
You will need a 54-56 Olds hydramatic flywheel.
You may need a 54-56 torus cover and toruses.
You will need to use a 57-64 crossmember.
You will need to modify the 394 mounts to fit the hydramatic bell housing.
You will need to install new dowels in the 394 block.
You will need to have the 394 crankshaft drilled for a pilot bushing.
You will need to have the 54-56 flywheel counterbalanced to the 394 crankshaft.

These items above are to allow the hydramatic to bolt to the 394. It can be done, but is it worth it?
