2004R for 500HP

Hello,

Car is a 1972 Cutlass. Stock 350 and TH350 transmission (both rebuilt).

Pretty soon a new motor will be going in, close to 500hp if not 500hp. I also need an transmission with OD, as many highway miles will be used. I understand I can either a) build up the TH350 and add a gear-vendors unit, or b) simply swap a built 2004R.

My question; I do not have any local builders with specific Olds experience - so I'd prefer to purchase a 2004R from a vendor or company that is reputable, and already assembled/ready to go. Does anyone have any recommendations? It will be matched up to an Olds 350 block.

Thank you all! I'm new to the Oldsmobile scene!

CK Performance, Extreme Automatic and California Performance transmission to name a few. For your 350, seriously consider the stroker package Cutlassefi is offering.

Perfect! Thanks for the info. And yes, I’m working with Mark on the engine build

Thanks for the hits, gentlemen! Some pretty big price variances between all companies - looks like it's time to research the best financial vs. quality build between all of them...

Like most things in life, you get what you pay for. I have used lots of CK Performance parts with get success, he is sometimes hard to get ahold of him at the shop. I have no personal experience with the others, but all of them are well known in the Turbo Buick world.

I would like to know how you got 500hp (estimated) from a small block. Not to be skeptical, but that is a pretty radical number unless you have put a lot of build knowledge in the 350. Not that it can't be done, but that is going to be a great build.

I’ve used CK and Dave Husek for parts. Dave will call you back even on Sunday’s.

It's easily doable with $. It may dyno even more than 500hp. More to come!
