What the heck did the HE 2004R come in?

I found the decoder online but no application. It shows as a 84 model and has been rebuilt at some point, not a stock converter.

I also pulled the pan on what I assume is the original TH350 from my 70 S. Very little crap inside, has a converter drain and a dual bell housing bolt pattern.

Apparently the online "decode" resources only cover the popular versions (Monte SS, GN, etc). One source shows "HE" as "Unknown", so THAT'S helpful.

GM used these in a bazillion run of the mill cars like Fleetwoods, Deltas, and Caprice wagons. Likely nothing special.

I could ask the wrecker, my wife picked it up for me. I am betting it is from a big car. I was surprised to see what should be the original trans from the 70 being dual pattern and not filled full of sludge.

Of course, this one has a brown gear vs the black, will be slightly off with the green 10 tooth gear. The fluid is a bit dirty but not burnt. No sure if the wrecker cleaned the pan, if not, it is very clean inside. I am stealing the lock up kit, Hughes pan/4L60E filter, mount from the other trans, should be done tonight. I did both front and rear seals as well. No fancy ATF, just Dexron 3.

I have an HE code 200R4 I pulled from a Buick Le Sabre at the pick n pull but I don't know if it was original to that car.

'84 HE trans code

According to the TurboBuick site; an '84 HE is Caprice, DeVille, Impala, LeSaber, and Parisienne w/ V-8 305" 5.0L Canada. In '87 the trans code changed to HF for the same models. Hope that helps!

That sounds right, hoping it shifts through the gears like it should.

In and shifting. I had to use the Qjet 2004R TV bracket. Shifts through the gears quick but a stock trans will do that.
