Disconnecting detent cable

Need some quick guidance on disconnecting the detent cable prior to pulling the engine/transmission. Out in the shop now, it's just about the last thing and I'm covered in grease, lol.

Is it easier/best to disconnect it from the transmission or from inside the car? If from the transmission, how do I get it out? I undid the small bolt and pulled the sheathing out but there's obviously something holding the cable in place?

Edit: Nevermind...went back under with the light and saw the hook end. Disconnected at transmission.
