Cutlass th350 floor shift cable...
1971 cutlass supreme convertible. I had a trans shift cable that went bad. (pic). I ordered a new /cheap replacement on eBay. It came quickly but was probably 9-12" too long for this particular application. I had to route it in a big S-shape over the top of the rear part of the trans in the tunnel and then kind of wind it back toward the front mount point for it next to the trans shift arm. The fixed portion of the cable housing is also maybe a half inch long, and the angle of attack from the floor shift mount to the arm on the shifter is critical -- and off a bit. This stresses that fixed portion of the cable and causes binding, which is probably what contributed to the other one (previous owner installed, not OEM) breaking. I repositioned and bent the mount a bit to accommodate and now it all shifts like butter-- but it woulda been better if the cable was the right length. I think it's "universal" for too many a-body cars where the spacing/angles of attack/entry points for the car interior are different. Here's the link for the part I got: http://www.ebay.com/itm/281343893441
