61-63 f-85 Hydramatic TV adjustment tool BT-33-2

This elusive tool is almost impossible to find. I have looked for 4 years off and on and just located one! It is not here yet but I will post dimensions of it after I get it for those that need the information. After I use it I will consider loaning it out if someone just has to use it and not make one from the dimensions.

This is the BT-33-2 gauge that is the starting point for the TV rod adjustment and also the petal height. Most people just have to skip that step and hope for the best. I have had good luck not using it but will now be able to know it is correct.

I made a copy of this tool using sheetmetal that I bent into shape. I got the dimensions from this website, if I recall correctly.

Did you use the tool yet?

The replica tool that I made indicated that the setting on the side of my trans was correct, but that the pedal height setting was off by quite a bit.

Not had lots of time but have had 3 requests in the past month for this information. I tossed this together real quick tonight. I will post these scans and pictures and if you have any questions let me know. Figures are in Inches

There is a guy making this tool on the AACA forum if you don't have the skills or equipment/time. It's a older thread in a sticky but I beleive it is still active. The second page has the info on it.. Tedd

I believe that one is for the big cars. It is BT-33-1 and not BT-33-2

Thank you for posting this, I've been trying to find one for a while. I'm surprised I didn't find this earlier. I had my transmission rebuilt, and it hasn't worked right since it was reinstalled. I read in another post, that a misalignment of the TV rod can cause installing, or over pressure inside the trans. The problem that I am having is that under any load, the transmission purges all the fluid out of the dipstick tube. I assume that means that pressure is built up inside the case. Fluid comes out somewhere on the top too, I assume that is the vent. Anyway, I'm going to to the TV rod adjustment a try with this tool and see if it helps in alleviating my fluid purging problem.

MissingMiles- the tool Eric posted is the one for F85 HydraMatic. When you get ready to set your TV rod you'll need the one for the full-size car, BT-33-1.

I got one of Dave Holt's reproduction 33-1 gauges years ago but not sure he's still making them. Oldskeeper here on CO also makes quality reproductions of BT-33-1.
