69 W30 Converter Stall Speed?

I have a 69 W30 that when put into gear seems to really lurch forward (or back) and will sometimes stall. The idle is set to 950rpm which I think is correct for a W30? So I am just curious if the W30's came with a different stall converter than a normal 400 engine?

Yes it should be a higher stall. Try lowering your RPMs, If it still clunks hard when you put it in gear, and wants to go, you probably have the wrong convertor. My sons 68 W30was like that when he bought it. It as no fun to put it in gear.
