Hello there: Kind of a mundane problem, but...

After getting my 1970 442 on the road again last year, I have recently realized that the transmission dipstick is missing. I would like a used original (no chrome, etc.), which seems harder to find than it should be. Will any TH 400 GM dipstick from similar years would work? I really don't know, but If I knew the overall length for the Oldsmobile unit it would help me narrow things down. Any advice or direction is greatly appreciated.

Since the tab on the dipstick tube is retained by one of the bellhousing bolts, the Chevy tubes are slightly different. Any BOP TH400 tube should work. Get the dipstick that goes with it.

You can get aftermarket replacements that use the boot type deal instead of the leak prone o-ring style. I have no idea who makes them, but they are available from summit, JEGS, etc
