will this fir a 68-72

Hi...have a one leg 2.56 in my car now behind a 455/th350

thinking about an upgrade to a posi....will this fit. the guy selling it does not know what it came out of and I only have a pic and never seen it. He has it posted as a chevy rear end,

Do you have a photo of it? I'm pretty sure the one in the diagram won't be a direct bolt in - check the location of the spring mount points - on top of the housing rather then offset. You might find the link mounting points different as well.


I had a similar one and did a lot of comparison before deciding to pass it on to someone else and wait for the right one.

Why don't you just buy the correct carrier and gear set for your existing differential? With all the work to take out the old one and install the new one, it's just faster and easier to replace the guts.

Hi Allan,

I thought that required some specialized skill set...who sells such an animal for the olds. My cover is a 12 bolt but I think it is a 10 bolt unit ?
