200-R4 question

200-R4 question
For those of you that have converted to a 200-R4, what are your speeds on the 1-2 and 2-3 shift at very light throttle, and what rear end ratio are you running?
I'm running 3.73 gears and my trans is shifting into 2nd as low as 5-7 mph.

I have mine calibrated through trial & error to basically go 10,20,40ish @ light throttle/low load, rises w/ more throttle. Under certain VERY moderate throttle condition condition (driving @ tip in & then closing the throttle with no load) it might shift earlier & can drop into OD @ 32-34 but not normally. WOT 1-2 is appx 5800 & I don’t remember where the 2-3 goes as the only time I would see that shift is @ the track and I normally do that manually around 5800-6000, I think it will go @ appx 5400 automatically. IIRC in my 200’s over the years the 2-3 shift tends to occur @ slightly lower rpm than the 1-2.
3.90 w/ 26.5 - 27” tire.
IIRC those part throttle shifts can be tweaked by varying the TV spring length, I have found 1.6ish inch long has worked in my trannies. You can also try a notch or two on the cable adjustment & see if it suits you.
i have found the 200-4R is a finicky beast & requires trial & error to dial in part throttle shifts, tweak governors for WOT shifts & even getting the speedo gear dead on which I consider to be 1-2 mph over the radar indicated speed signs. Because the pan has to come off every time you go to do something a drain plug in the pan is your best friend.

Going from 1st to second, at very light throttle at 7-10mph doesn't sound unusual for many automatics. Most of these trans were geared to 3.5 rears in there factory cars. The faster shifts at very light throttles meant less wear and tear on the motors and increased gas mileage, with lower emissions.
