Best fluid for a TH350C?
I was thinking of using Type F again or would regular dino Dexron 3 be preferable. Is Type F thicker? I know Type F is supposed to firm up shifts, sure didn't on my 70S. I changed the governor, couldn't put the B&M weights on the original one, used a TH250C one. I did this at the same time as Type F. It went from firm almost shift kit like shifts to mushy unnoticeable shifts, part throttle. If it was the fluid, Dexron 3 it is.

Type F fluid doesn’t have the smooth shifting additives that Dexron has. I agree, I don’t notice much of a difference in shift feel. Maybe the old Dexron and Type F fluid made a difference in when these cars were newer, doesn’t seem to be the case now.

Thanks. I am thinking regular Dexron 3 is fine and cheaper. Either way, I am sure it will leak out either way. I have 3 leaky trans, doesn't matter if seals and bushings are changed, they still leak out. Somehow Toyota made a transaxle that hasn't needed a seal in 375,000 on in my daughter's 96 Tercel. Only it and the Challenger don't need constant checking of the trans fluid, two out of five ain't bad.

I bought a 5 gallon bucket of all purpose Allison HD fluid for 50 bucks . Been using it for years . Power steering fluid I mix it with acetone for home made penetrating oil etc etc lol.

Looked up the specs, it is thicker and 10 degree less pour point, going by the stuff we sell at work.. How has it affected converter stall?

IMO it hasn't affected it much . I have seen no real issues with running it. The th350 has been in there about 4 years now about 5k miles and 70 1/4 mile passes. Fluid is still cherry.

Copper, what filter do you use? I have read starvation issues with the superior Dacron filter. I plan on 2L of Type F for colour and all season dino Trans hydraulic fluid and maybe trying with the nylon filter first.

I have nearly 2 liters of Type F with trans hydraulic fluid, still really hard to see the fluid . I need a new lock in tab for the speedometer gear and a working tach. Instant reverse and firm shifts. The old modulator line was nearly blocked up, I used a new hose the last time with the Type F fluid and governor. That was the difference in the shift firmness.
