'71 Cutlass TH350 Kickdown Q's
I've had the car torn down for a while and can't remember. I think the guy who did the transmission put the wrong kickdown cable in.
Looks like I'll need a replacement and a crash course in all things kickdown.
The cable goes from accelerator pedal to transmission correct? Only thing going to carburetor is the throttle cable itself, no transmission linkage, correct?
Adjustment procedures?
Thanks,
Josh Hucks

Actually, there is an adjustment on the kickdown cable. The end of the cable that attaches to the accelerator pedal terminates in a short metal rod. A spring clip fits over this rod to allow the cable to be pulled when the pedal is floored. You can adjust the position of that clip on the rod.

Knowing what kind of car your working with would help. Some cars have the kickdown cable on the carb, some go thru the firewall to the throttle pedal as joe mentioned. The kickdown cable travel should max out around WOT, either adjust the clip or bend the throttle bracket.
