Looks like a 1987. Not familiar with that code. Pull the pan and see if the paint is still on the valve body.

Well, I just typed "200-4R" and "htf" into Google and this was among the top three responses:

I typed every which way and nothing came up for me.
Wondering if the valve body is just standard or a step up.
The only information I can find, the 200 4r from 87 has the hardened sun shell and a couple of other parts. Not sure if this is true at all.

I picked up a similar 87 2004R in front of a 73 350 with 83 307, intake, carb and manifolds. The later the trans, the more improvements. If you are planning on rebuilding behind power everything needs replacing anyways. Expect soft shifts and 4000 rpm full throttle shifts.

Yes I know has to be built. Just wondering about the valve body of what it compares to a transmission from a 442 or GN.

A good shift kit and servo like ones from CK will make it similar to the 442 valve body, firm and later part throttle shift points. I get 5000 rpm full throttle shifts modding the regular 4000 rpm governor. It is actually better because I stake the spring in the small weight.
