1968 to 1970 Toronado Fuel Tank Sending Unit (Using 1971 - 1972 Toro Sending Unit)
I can confirm that the 1971 - 1972 Toronado Fuel Tank Sending Unit fits absolutely perfectly in my 1968 Toronado's fuel tank. (as you can see in the picture below) This does require blocking off the unused return fuel line. As far as accuracy I can tell you that the gauge reads empty when the tank has 5 gallons of fuel or less. The great thing is 1971 - 1972 Toronado Sending Units are still manufactured and you can purchase a replacement stainless steel unit for around $50.00 - 70.00. So, hopefully this information will be helpful to other first generation Toronado owners dreaming of a working gas gauge. I know I am completely ecstatic to finally have mine working...

The sending unit you show looks to be the same one I am using in my '69 Toronado. I was told that the one used in a '71-'72 Buick Le Sabre would work (no doubt the same as one used in similar year Toronados).....I simply picked mine up at Auto Zone....it fits, gas gauge works, all good!

1966-67 Toronado Sending Units
Hello guys, I have just determined 100% that the correct replacement sending unit for the Toronado's without the tubes (66-67) is the same as the Cadillac Eldorado. I ordered one online and it is dead on. The only thing you must do is remove an extra ground tab that is unused. If you use this one there are no tubes to plug or anything like that. Just drop it in and yeah!!

1st Gen Toronado Fuel Tank Sending Unit 66-67
O.K. I am driving the Toronado around and have a 100% working gas gauge that I bought for a 1967 Cadillac Eldorado. It dropped in and no mods at all. It is dead on accurate too E is E. I had the tank resealed for $125 and a sending unit for $50 on Ebay and everything is sweeeeeeeet!!

1966-67 Toro Sender
If you have a 66 or 67 the sending unit does not pick up fuel it is drawn out the corner of the tank. The sending unit is solely for the gauge. If yours is that way then use the sender for the '67 Eldorado available on Ebay for $50. They are all over the place for sale. I do not know about '68 but the very first post on this I do believe is about a '68.
