Fuel line from Pump to Carb

I am restoring a 1968 455 Oldsmobile Toronado in Melbourne, Australia. My Fuel Pump line to Carburettor is steel except for a 7 inch rubber section in the middle. Can you advise if OEM was all steel or part rubber like mine.

The fuel line from fuel pump to carb should be all steel with filter in carb inlet, best guess someone must have installed an inline fuel filter in the line at some point.
