As you may have already figured out, that cable is unique to the 1979 E-body cars with Olds 350 gas engine. The diesel cable is different. GM part number is 1264830. I can't find an aftermarket replacement.
The 1980-81 cars with 307 and 350 use P/N 25525172, and an aftermarket replacement for that one is available everywhere under ATP Y226. I have no idea what the difference is or if it can be made to work. Sorry.
