Considering 1988 Trofeo

I am pretty sure I am going to purchase this! I just want to lean on people who know about these things! The car is a one owner car, has all the paperwork to prove the mileage and is super clean. 45,000 original miles.

What do you think?
What's it worth?

Nos parts are pretty much unobtainium so go over the car with a fine tooth comb. Lenses, trim, etc. Interior parts are pretty much nonexistent so examine very closely. Small cracks in the vinyl panels can be repaired but leather not very well or cheap. Antilock brakes if bad are EXPENSIVE. It's a bonus to just have regular power brakes without that option. Most mechanics you can find but the fewer the electronic options the better IMO. Nice car.

Drive it first, make sure that you like the ride, including rough roads. I was going to buy one twenty years ago, and I thought that it rode like a buckboard, I bought something else.

Is that the one down in Grass Lake? Looks like a very nice car. The only thing that I would be concerned with is parts. Mechanical should be non issue but anything to do with that digital dash.

Money wise, according to NADA classic which shows what they are asking for an average is the price they want. I believe that the car way above average!

As Joe P would say I hardly trust the value when they show A/C and 2.3 quad 4 an for option. 1987 propaganda shows 3.8 V6 and A/C as standard on all Toro's. I could not find any brochures on the 1988's

Thanks for the replies! My first new car was a 1988 Calais International series. Wish I could find one of those but this reminds me of those days.

I went to see the car last night and it is super clean. No winters and the documentation is incredible. the only issue on the interior is the drivers side door armrest has some cracking. Seat bolster shows a little wear. On the outside the Toronado emblem on the passenger side is missing and one small scratch if you want to call it that, and he knew right when it happened. "Tiger stadium 1989".

Cool guy!! Cool car. I need another car like a hole in the head but I don't think I can get hurt on this one. Too nice to let pass.

if your going to get a trofeo i would get a 91 or 92 that has the VIC option...they are great riding cars and dependable with the buick engine....a little costly to maintain on some of the rear suspension parts. although the one your looking at does not have a VIC its low in miles and nice shape....i wouldnt buy a worn out trofeo to fix up...its a lot of money

I am partial to the looks of the 1988. i really enjoy cars that are all original with documentation. Hard to pass up any clean one owner Oldsmobile for me! This looks like it needs to be in my stable! At least for a little while.

I have worked for 3 Olds dealers in the past, one when these came out.Great looking, great running, just beware of the electronics. The elrctronic dash was/is a problem. There used to be authorized rebuild/exchange programs for these, last I knew, hard to find!
