Engine babbiting for OLD olds

Tech questions I know are more oriented for more modern engines and stuff...

Has anyone babbited an engine block and connecting rods and then hand scraped each journal to fit the crankshaft? Two engines I have were already done, but I have two more that need to be done. This is one thing that I have not done (yet) but willing to try.

I talked with an old timer, and he said he had made his own line boring tool when he did his engines years ago... anyone ever done this?

I thought I throw these "?"'s out there, just in case someone has done this yet.

Thanks,

~Joe
