No need to repost the same exact question twice but here it goes. 571145 is a '57-'58 J-2 triple carb intake. If you have #16 cylinder heads, it's telling me you have '57 or '58 heads. Check the bell housing area for a number. If it is something like XXXXXX-4 it is telling me you have a 4 inch bore which equals a 371.

Exclamation engine ID

The moderator stated the newby forum is not for this purpose so i put it in the tech area. It is for introducing ones self. Just following what I thought was proper protocal. The bellhousing casting number is plainly stated in the previous question. Thanks, Jim

It is quite common to misread casting numbers.

nothing "similar" at
http://musclecarclub.com/members/cas...smobile1.shtml

which appears otherwise pretty comprehensive.

here is a block casting # pic

maybe your 561747 is not the BLOCK casting ID.

Or maybe you have a hella rare casting.

if we go by the concept that they made up casting / part numbers more or less sequentially, then it dates as about a 1956 block.

There is a series of letters and numbers between the 1st and 2nd exhaust ports on the drivers side of the block, below the head (visible with the head on). They should start with a B. If you give me that series I can tell you what year it is.

Please cite the source of this information so that we can all find it from now on. I would like to add this # to my PN database.

Kind of funny that the internet has NO mention of this casting number at all. You would think somebody somewhere would add that to a published list.

As for the picture, it sure looks like 561747 to me, but it's so close that there is no telling what part it is on, or where at on that part.

Back to "hella rare casting"
Does not mean valuable necessarily, might be the first year of 303, and few left and fewer folks that care to build or maintain the smallest of the small.

Get okie88 the factory application stamp and watch the info flow
