It does look different from the ones sold by Thornton. Slight variations though. Did yours come in a GM box?
Thornton OAI vacuum motor
I don't know enough about the OAI vacuum motors to tell you for sure if it's repro or NOS. The pull tang on the motor doesn't look like any of the ones I've seen on OAI searches though.
Even the ones from Parts Place and OPGI look slightly more like the one from Thornton
I'm sure someone with an original OAI setup will be able to solve the riddle.

406424 is the part # listed in the 1974 parts book.
I have a 1987 Parts History catalog showing it was discontinued sometime between June 1982 and June 1987, so a 1978 production date would put it current for just prior to being discontinued.
I expect it was substituted or superseded by another part #, and that is what you have. Even though it doesn't look exactly right, it probably "fits and functions" correctly. Probably a TransAM shaker door actuator, and as many of those as I fooled with I cannot remember what they look like.

I looked in the 72 Olds parts manual. What did you use as your search? I Tried motor, vacuum, OAI but couldn't find it. I also have an 83 manual I can check to see if the changeup part number shows there.

Thanks. Found it. The index was calling it a (motor, carburetor air cleaner) which I thought was the vacuum for the hot air sensor in the air cleaner controlling the heat from the stove pipe to exhaust manifold.
I'm sure GM parts counter people had to take a specialized course to figure some of this stuff out. Appreciate your help with the reference.
I bet it cost more than the $4.36 it lists for in 72! The part number is the same in the 83 catalogue, but the price jumped to a whopping $13.50
