62 Olds Starfire windshield removal

I would like to know the correct way to remove the chrome or stainless trim around the windshield on this car as I wanna take the windshield out and hopefully not break it.I do not have the special tool for the trim any suggestions.I also am gonna use a guitar string to go around the window after I cut some of the weather stripping or tar that the use if thats what it is.I have taken a few out and had good luck just not one this old.I hope this was the place to post this if not can post in the correct section.
Thanks Olin

It'd be worth it to call a mobile glass shop to pull it for you - $50 - $75 is cheap insurance, and if they break it, they gotta get you a new one!!
