top won't line up

I've got a '72 Cutlass Supreme convertible. When putting the top up, I have to literally wrestle the top to get the pin into the hole in the window frame on the driver's side. With a lot of grunting and groaning on my part, I can finally get it to go in and then clamp it shut quickly. There is no way that my wife can exert enough pressure to get that pin to go in where it should. I know that it should be easier than this.

Is there some sort of an adjustment somewhere that would help get rid of this problem?

Too far away, or too far left or right?

I think the front bow or cross piece is adjustable
of course that will require a bit more vinyl, which becomes a headache quickly.

consult the body manual?

If your not the handy type or dont want to tackle this find a good auto interior shop. It will likely take them 30 minutes and cost you $30

Has it been down for a long time? Is it cold when you are putting up? I know with mine if I leave it down for a long time and it is cold when I'm trying to put it up it is a real pain. If I put it up and down in the summer it is alot easier. Just some thoughts.

I just put mine up yesterday and had the same problem. I have wrestled with mine for years since I took out the top motor. Like lshlsh2 said, it largely depends on how often you put the top up. What I am doing is letting the top "relax" for a day or two and then I will connect the latch on the driver's side (with some effort).

Mine has a dark [blue] top so it heats up quicker. I raise the top as far as it willl go, park the car in the sun with the windows up and turn on the heater. It makes the wresteling match easier

The craziest things about 69's 442 is they have 2 holes above the windshield but only 1 pin
