Replacing Alternator Diodes -10DN

The alternator on my Red car bit the dust and rather than trade it in for a rebuilt one, I decided to rebuild it. My question is, do the new diodes and bearings need to be pressed in, or can they be massaged in the way they were removed? I don't have a press at my disposal.

WHAT? Please tell me how you managed to massage the diodes out. You've got to be one heck of a masseur. If the diodes are loose enough to be pushed out by hand then either the holes are worn out or the diodes are worn. If you can push the new diodes in by hand you will be sure to have problems in the future. Use a vise as your press.Be sure to support the area around the diodes so you don't break the housing or diode plate.
