When to use a spacer
So I know a bit about the use of spacers but I would like to learn a whole lot more, if someone could get some info and when to use one I would like to know.
I have an OL4B intake that I will use and an edelbrock 750 that I got dirt cheap in great condition, my manchinist said I may want a spacer but who knows yet. I know that sometimes they are good and sometimes bad. It is a low rise intake. And for the ones who ask about HEI, there should be no issue using a space saver HEI like the ones offered by Mallory. Although on a O4B intake for the big block... Probably won't work.

Open spacers will give you more top end power but you'll sacrifice off the line power and vise-versa for barreled spacers. Really you'll have to trial and error to see what one fits your motor best. Another advantage to a spacer is it can help cool the fuel in the carb. Someone sells a spacer kit that you can swap out the center for different bores and spreads and tapers. basically a 1" open bore with a few different pieces that fit the center of it.

thats the link to one that I was kinda talking about. there are others out there as well that have more adapters to "tune" with also. Do a few runs around the block to see which one will suit you the best.
