I've decided that this winters project is to put a set of those extremely expensive ARH headers on my 65 this winter, I'm guessing with the starter and the exhaust hookup at the muffler shop this is going to cost about $1500.
The smallest headers they offer is 1 7/8 I am hoping that this is small enough not to take a bite out of the bottom end.
Anyone have an opinion on header size, I don't basically have any choices but I want to upgrade this before getting rid of the POS Performer cam I have the following winter.
Anyone that wants to know my current build has 8.9 compression, fully ported and gasket matched #8 heads, RPM intake, 600 Holley and that POS Edelbrock cam with Comp adjustable rockers, 2004R trans with a 2000 stall and a 3:90 gear.
I also have a set of completely built set of #5 heads with no pocket porting that yielded 10.2 compression and gave me a BAD pinging problem.
Expert advise appreciated as to what I should be doing.
The car runs good now but is nowhere near what I think it should be running like, this is a mountain road bomber and it runs in the lower gears of the transmission most of the time on the mountain roads.
