How to remove a Power Steering Pump Pulley?
Hello all. I have a 1967 Cutlass and I'm attempting to remove the power steering pump pulley from the bracket to clean and paint. I can not remove the nut keeping the pulley attached to the pump. I bought a pulley remover only to find the pulley does not have a flange for the remover to attach to. Bracket and pump is already removed from the engine. I am lost! Please see picture. Any help would be Greatly appreciated. Thank you.

No puller required, once the nut is off grip the pulley with your hands and just kind of tug on it till it pulls off. I like to break the nut loose while it's still on the car.
In your case if you lock a large pair of visegrips onto center flange you may be able to hold the pulley still while you break the nut loose. Impact wrench could be useful now.

Grab pulley with something rubbery (the last time I did it, I held it against a railroad tie with the sole of my boot and used an air wrench. You could also contrive to wrap a fan belt around it and secure it somehow). Once the nut is off, teh pulley should come off with a sharp rap.

How about a non-marring strap wrench to hold the pulley.

Which way does the nut turn to loosen? The normal counter clock wise? I am down to just this replacing it on my '70 delta 88. I am going to have to hold on to it as I am sure it is "stuck" on there, just want to make sure i turn it the right way to get it off before I shove a bunch of muscle into it. My pully has holes in it too. Advice is helpful, going to do this tomorrow evening after work. Then it can all go back together.

wow, mine doesn't have that extra piece on the inner pulley where the shaft goes through and has to ruin it with a 3 jaw puller!
