Smaller carb??

Thinking that a Holley 750 is too big for a 403 for normal driving. Anybody have any recommendations what would work better and what type and number would be appropriate?

Thanx.

Why? A Q-Jet is about a 735 cfm carb.

The trouble with an out of the box Holley is that it has to be generic to accommodate the hundreds of different engine and car combinations it's likely to be used on. I think if you tailor a 750 with correctly-sized jets, pump and power valve, it will perform fine on your 403. You may end up swearing at it anyway because of the effects weather has on them sometimes, but a Holley is a fine carburetor.

Just don't expect to get the fuel mileage of a QuadraJet out of it.

Which 750 is it?
I had great success with a 780 vacuum secondary Holley after converting to a secondary metering block, dual inlet, changing the squirter, the accelerator pump ramps, re-jetting to 68's + 88's, and the lightest secondary vacuum spring.
Got great mileage and performance, too!
You can make them run, with patience.
Oh yeah, it was on a 396 BB chebby.
