mysterious rubber flap in front of radiator ?

in front of the radiator, inside the grill, on the left side (drivers side) is a thin rubber flap about 8 or 10 in. square...... where does it go ? one corner of it is still fastened to the upright
''shroud'' near the rad support it has about a 1'' hole in it with a 'slit' to the edge. The one for the other side is missing..I assum I need these for air flow control. ???????????????

I don't own a 69, but it probably there (factory) to help direct the air through the radiator instead of around it.

They sell them repro but I don't recall what they are called. They are meant to direct airflow thru the radiator & not around it. On a '70 the bottom goes to the radiator support & the top goes to the radiator top plate. IIRC '70 had two different sizes for standard or heavy duty cooling.

There is also a flap that fits around the park light on a '69 to keep crud off the light housing that is projected forward from the rotating wheel assembly... The one inch hole with slit goes around the bumper brace and surrounds the light housing...play with it, you will figure it out.

Sorry Sandy I think you mean "radiator flappy rubber thing-a-ma-jigs", not to be confused with "radiator flappy thing-a-ma-jigs".
