Radiator related questions

I am in the market to get a new 3row aluminum radiator for my 68 Cutlass Supreme w/ 350. Most likely from a trustworthy dealer on ebay. I had a question regarding the install process. Is it necessary to completely remove the belts, fan blade, clutch and shroud to replace the radiator or can I put the shroud forward and let it sit during the replacement?

Also, is there a huge advantage with going with an aluminum 3row vs 2? Ive found some 3rows for around $180-200.

buddy ... I went through this a couple years ago ... I was told by several ppl to keep my stock radiator... they work well ... took it to a local radiator shop ... they went through the process, cost about 125$ ... have had no problems since ... running a pretty hot 455 with stock fan, clutch/shroud ... important ... the location of fan as it relates to the shroud ... they say it should extend out about 1/3 to 1/2 the way out the rear of shroud to properly pull air through ... suggest you check in with some old timers in the business and get their opinion prior to swapping out for an alloy reaidator ... I am interested in seeing what others have to add ... Bob

You don't have to take the belts or shroud off...just push the shroud rearward and unscrew the trans cooler lines and remove the hoses and its up, up and away..
